Full Integration with the Archive Manager
After first completing the backup to disk, vaulting data to the cloud is facilitated by the Store Vault Task wizard. The wizard walks the user through the steps to quickly start the vaulting process including creating a cloud account. View and restore all vaulted data directly from Archive Manager and quickly access individual points in time. Built-in network management technology allows the user to manage upload and download speeds during work hours and non-work hours. All data is automatically encrypted using AES-256 encryption before upload and remains encrypted at rest in the cloud.
Deduplication and Compression
All data in your store has already been deduplicated and compressed using DATASTOR’s patented deduplication engine and is ready for upload to the cloud. This means bandwidth usage and storage costs are optimized from the initial upload. On subsequent uploads, only new data and just the small portions of files that change are uploaded insuring the lowest possible storage costs over time. Additionally the user is provided the flexibility to select which recovery points to vault.
Efficient packaging of data for upload
Uploading individual files one at a time is a very inefficient method of transferring data. DATASTOR utilizes a unique method of packaging data into optimized segments for fast and efficient uploads. Our internal testing demonstrated that data uploads completed in a fraction of the time required by other products which lets you keep network bandwidth for your business critical needs.
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
DATASTOR utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the cloud based data center, so your data could not be safer. Our solution uses private Amazon storage that is separate from the public Amazon cloud.
Choose between Amazon S3 and Amazon Glacier to best meet your needs. Amazon S3 offers instant access to your data. Amazon Glacier provides the same level of security but at a reduced price and is optimized for data that is infrequently accessed and for which retrieval times of several hours are suitable. For each vault, the user can determine which storage option is appropriate. Choose where your data is stored. Amazon has eight regional centers to select from. Amazon S3 is currently available in the US Standard, US West (Oregon), US West (Northern California), EU (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and South America (Sao Paulo) Regions. The US Standard Region automatically routes requests to facilities in Northern Virginia or the Pacific Northwest using network maps. Amazon Glacier is available in all regions except Asia Pacific (Singapore) and South America (Sao Paulo).
