Introduction

This document contains the release notes for dataStor Shield 2011 Enterprise Protection Server build version 5.0.246.1.
The following sections describe the release or other information that supplements the main documentation.

Build 5.0.246.1 is a major release of the Enterprise Protection Server (EPS) edition of the software with
enhancements and resolutions to issues reported in the field.

Extended Retention Settings:

Archive Manager Configuration export/import and maintenance tasks (aiqutil.exe):

Installation and Upgrade Notes

 

Installation and Upgrades for EPS

 

You must be running version 3.0 or later of ArchiveIQ, Scalable Business Server, or Enterprise Protection Server prior to
upgrading to version 5.0. The upgrade to version 5.0 will transfer configuration information from a 3.0 installation to
Enterprise Protection Server. If upgrading EPS 4.0 versions to 5.0 all updates are made in place. If you are running a version of
the software prior to 3.0, first upgrade to the latest version of 3.0 prior to upgrading to 5.0.

 

1.    Download dataStor Shield Enterprise Protection Server to a folder on your hard drive, and make note of the location of the folder.

2.    Open the folder and double-click dataStor_Shield_EnterpriseProtectionServer_5_0_246_1.exe to begin the installation.

3.    Follow the installation wizard prompts to completion.

Recent Fixes

 

  • Allow for deferred activation of production keys
  • Error exporting history files for stores that have no history
  • Exchange Plans for storage groups that are successful have Warnings
  • No warning message if the last storage group on a server is offline
  • Checkup report does not allow semicolon (;) separated email addresses only comma (,) separated
  • Store copy task ends OK when store is write-protected.
  • Store copy tasks end with Parameter is incorrect if source or destination store is offline
  • Logging too excessive with Invalid Store Exceptions when store is offline.
  • Running initial plans from multiple remote computers at the same time causes warnings
  • Unable to restore large files over a network on Windows 2008 R2
  • Unable to edit folder selections when creating file protection path
  • UI errors  when user temp folder is deleted
  • Deleting a store that is offline does not delete the store share
  • Plans running for more than 24 hours are not showing up in the checkup report

  • Verify job shows green check icon with 2 errors and 2 warnings
  • Deleting one of two plans sharing the same configuration deletes the configuration.
  • Cannot clear archive name from saved configuration

  • USN Journal not always enabled for Exchange data drives
  • Setting or changing ‘Advanced’ properties in saved configuration clears Folders settings

  • $temp$ and $store$ not resolved if mixed- or upper-case
  • MMC crashes with TargetInvocationException when running plan on disconnected remote computer
  • Unable to select a store that uses NAS storage as a source to pull data for a store copy
  • Restoring a link to file that has not yet been restored causes 3L warning
